The API provides the complete registration or billing address that the mobile operator has associated with the line (MSISDN). This includes the street, number, zip code, and city/province or state. The data is exactly the same as what is used for the customer's monthly billing.
The API will return the address currently registered by the mobile operator. This underscores the importance of this data: it is the address the customer uses to receive their bills. If the customer has an outdated address in the MNO's database, it is a problem they must resolve with their operator, but for the purposes of your verification, the data received is the most recent known by the source.
The Home Verify API replaces the need to upload proof of address documents. However, complete KYC verification still requires identity validation (e.g., ID, passport), which can be achieved with other complementary APIs (such as the KYC match API) or traditional methods.
The availability of address data for prepaid lines depends on the country and local legislation regarding the collection of identity data for prepaid SIMs. In many countries, operators are required to register the address of the holder even for prepaid lines, in which case the API will work.
